ABOUT ME
Hello my name is Mr. Michael Hoffman and this is my 5th year with the Tri-Valley School District! I am the 7-12 Band Director for the 2022-2023 school year.
I am from Sioux Falls, South Dakota and attended Lincoln High School. I was heavily involved in the Lincoln band program as a member of the competitive marching band, symphonic band, jazz band, orchestra, pep band, and other smaller performing ensembles. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 2013, I attended the University of South Dakota where I received my Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in Instrumental Music Education. Similar to my involvement in high school, I was apart of many music ensembles while completing my degree.
During my time at USD I had the privilege of marching three seasons with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps. Upon completing my final summer, I was invited back to intern with the Blue Stars Brass Staff where I participated in an internship teaching along side many world-class educators.
I love performing just as much as I love teaching, so I try my best to remain active in the community as a member of several different ensembles including, The Sioux Falls Municipal Band, Sioux Empire Brass Society, and the Augustana Community Orchestra.
When I’m not teaching or performing, I love to travel, hang with family, friends, and other colleagues, cook, bake, read, run, swim, and just enjoy the crazy weather South Dakota has to offer us. I’m a huge USD fan, and I love cool and comfortable shoes!
